battle scarred ch.13 when life gives you a lemon
battle scarred ch.13 p.101 by ~myo-nk on deviantART
another manga updated in my deviant art gallery...it almost took whole month! i feel so bad but it's all because of my gov class...
this chapter was very hard to do because i couldn't do it continuously and i lacked of practices.
the next one is gonna be even harder, not in drawing, but in designing. i get to introduce ashton's house and its interior. i literally buried myself in a pile of archetecture magazines.
the process seems so slow everyday!
i get frustrated with my lines, but hopefully, that woudln't bother other ppl as much.
i'll try to finish the next chapter by the end of the year.......b(^^)d

frome dkny perfum ads
a different approach to color. i found it very fun to mix colors that i normally would not use.
the composition, outfit, and basically everything is from dkny perfume ads. i was happy to be able to add a little bit of city on the back.
this was more like a test so i don't not like it but i don't love it. XDD

ch.12 one for all (colored)
battle scarred ch.12 p.81 by ~myo-nk on deviantART
finally, i actually finished coloring this!!!!
i never had enough time to but i could do it today cuz i really needed something for my school's literary magazine. hopefully they should add this one in the magazine!
it may look kinda crappy, cuz i was in a hurry -- i needed one more artwork done. but i generally liked the outcome and hope you guys do too.
used painter ix and photoshop vi.
i feel so un-burdened!!!!!!!!!!!!
dian, my love
Dian, My Love by ~myo-nk on deviantART
"Dian was cradled tight in her mother's arms, and I dropped my sword, tore the helmet from my head and fell to my knees beside them. 'Dian?' I whispered, 'my love?"...I waw the soul flicker in her eyes...She saw me, then she died, and i put my arms around her and around her mother and i cried like a child. For my little lovely Dian, I wept."
k, this is from an arthurian novel, Enemy of God, by Bernard Cornwell. i had to read this for my english class and felt that i was so lucky to have read such a book. it was full of emotions, battles, and just beauty of language, and i loved it so much!
in this part, a daughter of an arthur's warrior, who's the narrator in the novel, gets killed by bad guys (don't wanna give away too much!). but i remember screaming my head off, scaring my siblings, and just crying (not too hard tough). it was so sad! little dian died!
this book is definitely super-recommanded for those who love arthurian legend or any of those chivalry and romance stuff. i was so engrossed in the book that in my dream, merlyn came out and i had to protect excalibur and deliver it to arthur.
anyway this book is the second book of bernard cornwell's warlord trilogy, and i bought the third one! yeah! i can't keep my eyes off from the book!!!
i used painter ix, digital watercolor and oil, and then used photoshop vi for the effect.
under your shadow

i officially give this piece up TT i just can't continue on and it's so pressuring. i really liked the color utilization and composition in the beginning, but it just gets harder and harder as i go on. i'm so busy nowadays that unless i give it up, i'll die from stress!
maybe i'll work on it if i have like nothing to do, but i probably will. BUT hopefully, i should be able to produce something better than this one, because it was basically a failure and failures improve me.

oekaki
ok, i'm done. first of all, this is the first time i ever liked the result after using this technique, which requires a lot of brushstrokes and overlapping. i've tried this so manny times before but they all looked bad. but this one, i like it. i'm not as good as artists who only work with this technique though. i'll practice and learn.
well, her face is fairly long, yes. it's because i only focused on contrast and color choice -- which turned out to be okay. i like her hair, eyes, and lips.
when i first started drawing, i wanted naive, fragile, childish, and girlish atmosphere, but i guess the eyes turned it upside down. but i still think it's ok. i definitely need more practice.

alexander mcqueen 2006 winter show
from vogue paris
beautiful but cruel.
whenever i look at some artwork done by artists, designers, composers, etc, i think: where to such great works come from? where do they start? a lot of times, when i sit down and try to draw something, i find myself out of ideas and motivation. art IS a type of process that can not come so spontaneously, though intuitiveness do play a significant role. but just by looking at the design itself and trying to figure out how it was developed, i feel like i'm still far behind, so unskilled and unknowledgeable.
if you look at the pictures, the feathers so strongly catch one's eye. HOWEVER, it's not that it's just the feathers, or the birds, on the top of the models' heads that brings such great deal of interest and attention. the makeup, hairstyle, collar, and facial expression work all together to bring harmonious form that reminds one of birds. it's just amazing to look at the result of the designer's choice, because if i were him, i would have done something very gaudy -- but it's more subtle.
in designing, it's really hard to come up with a theme or a central object that, as the most emphasized part of composition, unites the others to finish the zigsaw puzzle. but developing on such theme itself is even harder, because there are so many choices, or in other case, none. in my case, there is no choice, because i'm so limited and i think inside the box. i know it's a bad thing but can't help.
i think these images serve as a good model for the harmony of objects that draws attention in the first place and that fill up the space to give more effects to the entire work.

progress 2
here goes another update of where i am.
i realized, today, that i still lack of skills with brush strokes. it's very unnatural and manga-looking, which can be seen as good thing or bad thing. comparing to master artists i've seen so far, i still have A LOT to learn.
i still don't think i know painter ix. i'll just ask bunch of people online and stuff. no hope for me.
oh yeah, i made the background white, because i just couldn't stand the other one with trees and bushes. i feel so bad and stupid. what would my art teacher say if he sees this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
ughhhhh...
drew this to keep myself awake yesterday at 12 am because i had to do government hw. it's literally ruining my life now: i can't sleep well and i don't even have enough time to sleep; i gain more weight because i would eat to deal with my stress; i can't be so hyper and happy anymore; and, i can't draw anymore because i don't have that much time.
it's so ridiculous and unreasonable. i tried to accepted it as a process of learning, but no. this is messed up.

so into arthurian legend
painter ix. digital watercolor.
my brush stroke is getting weird after oil paint lessons in my saturday art school TT.
yesterday, i finished reading this book for my school during the thanksgiving holiday.
it's called "enemy of god" written by bernard cornwell.
i'll review the book when i get to post the completed piece.
anyway. i was so into that book that i had a dream about king arthur XDD.
all i remember is this: there was a little hill with a dried tree and a rock on the top, and merlyn, dressed in saruman's white cloak and white, straightened hair XDD, sitting on the rock. i don't remember what the topic was, but it was so serious and no one, among the people around merlyn, talked but merlyn himself and i don't remember hearing anything. it was as if i were a deaf. anyway...when a woman came up to merlyn to say something to him, he noticed that i was there and gave me a smile. and his lips made a v because he didn't have a tooth! XDD. and i found myself holding a sword, which i later found out to be "excalibur" and merlyn made me protect it until i had to deliver it to arthur.
isn't it so funny??? i love my imagination lol.
now that i've finished reading "enemy of god" which has awesomely vivid battle scenes and that i've watched the movie "the fountain" (which i'll write about later) that had gory scene of toturing and slashing people, i'm so exposed to gore and sex. and i just can't help but think about them because they come back up in my head! so i'm going through a hard time right now.......lol
oh i forgot to mention anything about the drawing. this part is when one of the bad guys kills the narrator's daughter after insulting his wife and basically destroying everything (i believe...). this was particularly sad for me -- yes i cried! -- because this girl, youngest of the three, was just like her father and she could ride a horse, shoot arrows, and so on. it was just so sad!!! also, i placed jay, from my manga, in place of the narrator, derfel, as i always do whenever i read something, it just broke my heart...........
i think bernard cornwell is awesome!!!!!!

i got a new ipod!!!!
whee-hee!!!!!!!! i'm so happy!!!! isn't it so pretty???? i'm never gonna let anyone touch it!!!!
"beautiful memory"
so....i finally finished this piece for pta reflection show after sleeping at 2 am everyday during last week. it wasn't particularly challenging but i was disappointed that i failed to use the technique that i wanted to use. i think i was too hasty this time.
anyway, i'm so happy that i'm done with it, and hopefully i will get recognition or something....

ashton's house
finally i got the exterior of ashton's house done. it was really challenging for me, because it was more 3-dimentional and it took a lot of space. but, again, i like archetechtures XDD.
the insperations are from many different magazines, basically, and from my own imagination, though i wasn't that successful at bringing what i've imagined to life. but anyway, i'm so proud of myself cuz i at least got exterior done. interior's gonna be much more challening but i don't have to -- and i don't want to -- worry about it for now...

patterns
some patterns i made for my art 2 class. thought they were need and jotted them down before handing in my work for grade.

aren't i such a hippie or what???
aren't i such a hippie or what???
under your shadow
i bet you that i have been drawing this since last summer! i got so busy that i can't give myself some time to finish it up!!! i dunno when i'll be able to finish it TT. but if i get to do it, i think i'll give some more contrasts and all. *sigh*
jay's new hairstyle
i was too bored when i went to nyc.
it's not like i don't like the one one (on the bottom right). i just thought that it's a little bit messy, concerning what he'll b doing in the future, like wearing suits and all...
but i didn't feel so bad with the new one, because, as i've wanted, it's not that messy, and it gives different atmosphere. like, he looks more calm and matured in terms of wisdom??? maybe it's just me who thinks like that XDD.
but the old one, though it's messy, it makes him look younger and more strong physically.
i dunno. both have pros and cons, and both look weird if i don't draw so well ;;.
i wanna choose the new one but i'm afraid to give a change. i like both actually. so maybe i can not change it for now, but gradually change the old hair style to the new one as jay gets old, since i'm gonna make skyler's hair gradually grow out till it's really long and wavy.
i dunnooooooo.

players haha
drew it pretty quickly before going to new york city (it's gonna be fun~ XDD).
i really like the lines and how darker lines are made when overlapped.
thanks to previous studying of gesture drawing, where i focused on anatomy, hands, and joints, i think i got better with bodies now.
i was really inspired before drawing, but, like everytime, i find myself unable more and more as i see those master artists.
gosh. how i felt so bad when i looked at their pictures.
i'm so jealous. i wish i could spend more time on drawing.
i also wish i had my own b-tool prg.
american b-tool sucks! oh.my.gosh.
those brushes are so bad! they make me feel so bad TT.

i made a blog
i kinda felt i was being really obssessed with my own manga whenever i talked about it in my other website. so i just decided to make a different webpage, where i solely focus on it and other stuff.
most of all, i'm going to post my manga and talk about them a lot. i think i'll post some doodles that i scanned. maybe oekaki and b-tool stuff too. oh i wish there were folders or menu or something like that so that i can organize 'em. other than those i think it'll be about architecture -- which i'm very interested with.
hopefully i shouldn't be too lazy XDD.
my goals:
1) improve my painting skills -- that includes, value, composition, color, and brush stroke.
2) be more comfortable drawing architectures and using perspective.
3) daily and regular practice and observation.
4) draw as fast as possible, but still retaining the quality.
5) never procrastinate, but complete what's been begun.
it's like one of my habit. i set multiple goals whenever i start a new webpage
or a new notebook or a journal, etc. i think they just help me keep in track of what i'm trying to accomplish and see where i am or where i was.
muhahaha. i'm gonna rule this place.
